Begin by sizing the paper for your box. Wrap a piece of ribbon
around the width of your box and add 2" to its length. This
will be the longer dimension of your paper.
To determine the other dimension, place the box on the table
and measure the depth (from the table to the top of the box).
Double this measurement and add the height of the box (top to
bottom). This is your second measurement.
Cut your gift wrap to size.
Lay the box, bottom facing up, centered on the unfinished side
of the paper.
Fold the left edge 1/2” and crease with your bone folder.
This will hide the paper’s raw edge.
Pull the left side of the paper up and over the entire front
of the box and down to the right side of the box. Adjust until
it aligns flush with the bottom edge of the right side of the
box. Tighten the paper around the box.
Holding the box in place on the paper, release the left edge.
Then pull the right side of the paper up the side of the box and
adhere to the bottom with single-sided tape.
Attach double-sided tape to the inside of the folded left edge
of the paper.
Pull the left edge back over the box (creasing the edges as
you go) and adhere it to the bottom right side of the box, creating
a “seamless edge.”
To complete the ends of the box, begin with the top of the box
facing down on the table. Push the paper in flush to the box from
the side and repeat with the other side.
Crease the bottom flap down and tape down with single-sided
tape. It is okay to use single-side tape here as it will be hidden
from the top flap.
The remaining flap can either be folded to be flush to the edge
of the box or to line up in the center of the box. To have the
flap line flush to the edge, fold the flap up and over the bottom
edge creating a crease. For the flap to align in the center of
the box, fold the flap up the side of the box, find the center
and create a crease in the paper at this point. Pull this flap
back down and fold in at the crease. Apply a piece of single-sided
tape to secure this fold down.
Place double-sided tape along the edge of this flap and fold
flush to the side of the box. This should create another "seamless
edge."
