That's a Wrap by Donna Pocius
Tracie
Stier-Johnson, owner of Broadway Paper in the Third Ward, is also
merry about this season's patterns and colors. Her store, housed
in a historic refurbished warehouse, offers a wide variety of designer
sheet wraps.
These upscale papers offer options to the traditional red and green,
according to Stier-Johnson. "We are seeing soft magenta, a
soft cool color green, a Tiffany blue in a green family that I have
never seen," she says. "Now, there are completely different
shades of red and green to see together."
Sheet wrap designs on the Broadway Paper Web site (www.broadwaypaper.com)
depict cardinals on a turquoise background, birds with deer and
doves around trees.
"Birds are huge, huge this year. Huge! We can't keep enough
bird items in stock," Stier-Johnson says. "And we want
to talk about Hanukkah. A wrap like this doesn't say Christmas,"
she says, pointing to a pattern with small red birds on a light
blue background. "They are vey holiday and not Christmas-specific
or Hanukkah-specific."
Maria Cieslik, interior designer and co-owner of Cieslik Celek
Interior Design, worked at Broadway Paper for a few years on a part-time
basis. There she became familiar with sheet wraps, which she prefers
over rolls.
Wrapped presents (below) welcome guests. These
papers are from Broadway Paper.
