Brides are also turning to envelopes to individualize the look of their invitations, says Heather Stuart, who manages Broadway Paper in Milwaukee. "People want everything to coordinate, and that includes envelopes," says Stuart, adding that this also means invitation motifs reappear, most commonly on the back flap of the envelope next to the return address. But she's also seen some brides use an old-fashioned font to create a playful printed box on the front that resembles a vintage mailing label.

Stuart also likes playing with the design of the response card. She cites one recent example of a tri-fold invitation, where the right side is the wedding invitation, the center holds reception information and the left panel is a perforated reply postcard that can easily detach from the invitation. "It's a really clean look," she says, "and of course it couldn't be easier to reply since the postcard is right there.
